Not so fast: Hamaoka shut-down update

According to the Japan Times, Chubu Electric has put off their decision to shut down the Hamaoka nuclear power plant. Since I posted about Mr. Kan's request earlier, I just thought I should update you. The request itself is non-binding, so it's not as if the prime minister ordered them to close it. This should be an interesting story to follow.

The mention of the plant producing less than 12 percent of their total electrical output and how the meeting focused on the impact a closure would have on the company's bottom line -- rather than making sure people were safe -- tells us all we really need to know. This is just sickening.

Yeah, very sickening. However, there is good news-- they did decide to shut it down! I've been meaning to post a link to that story but I've been kind of busy.
